ahh home in a week and a half. i look forward to it - one of the first things i'm going to do is get a job (VERY QUICKLY I hope) and move out into my own place. Since my mom is moving in with her fiance, there's lots of leftover furniture for meeee! w00t.
One of the first things I will buy for my apartment is a drawing desk, and hopefully I can paint the walls, because I HATE white walls - if I can't paint, I'll have to find another way to make the room colourful.

I plan to do a lot of artwork soon - some based on my trip, and some fun stuff, and some more portraits of course.

Ta for now.

what an exciting time in your life!

i've lived in apartments where i could not paint, and i too, 'hate white walls'. as an easy alternative, i collected fabric swatches from different friends involved in theatre and hung them as drapes and tapestries to help me cope. i finally got tired of the mismatched collection and decided to take the money it would cost to paint and went to a surplus fabric store with a girlfriend and picked out three different inexpensive materials and bought several yards. she made three very long floor to ceiling swag-like pieces and i mounted them from rods near the ceiling, at the highest part of the wall near the cornice boards. it has a great effect as we positioned lights on them so they are like 'feature' spots at night. sheer fabrics or even muslin, come in a variety of colors i believe and can be purchased in expensively at large fabric shops. talk about turning the home into an artist's den... :lmao:

enjoy!
